What I have been up to lately?

What projects have I been up to lately???? Well, I have slowly but surely been working on painting my wingback chair!!  So exciting!

I went with purple hue.  I first went to Hobby Lobby and picked a color choice out of their acrylic paints.  Then I took that color and brought it to Home Depot.  The paint guy was able to perfectly match it.  It is called Eggplant and I went with a Behr paint.

Here are two pictures to show you some progress:

And that is as far as I have gotten.  Not much progress but life has been so busy that I can't even begin to explain.  So I will take what I can right now in regards to any DIY project time.

Stay tuned for me pics hopefully in the near future!

My favorite decor websites

I have several sites that I like to visit weekly.  Ok you got me ... I mean almost daily.  I use these sites for inspiration and ideas.  If you are thinking about re-doing your master bedroom in yellow and gray than just go to one of these sites and type in "bedroom yellow and gray" and you will have a ton of pictures to choose from.

Here are some great sites:

www.decorpad.com/

Decorpad has a forum where you can post pictures and ask other bloggers, readers and designers for their thoughts and opinions.  They also have endless pictues that are sure to inspire you.

www.houzz.com/

I was recently introducted to this site and you can easily be addicted so be warned! It's alot like decorpad - you can skim through lots of photos or ask questions for decor help.

www.olioboard.com

This site is fun if you want to play around with ideas for your room, a clients room or just for fun.  This site is equivalent to a guys xbox and games.  Hours of fun creating!  You can put a whole room together by dragging photos, fabric and accessories from their endless sources into a blank bedroom - pretty cool.  They also have monthly contests you can enter to win.

www.pinterest.com

Who doesn't love pinterest right now?!?!? Such a silly questions.  Everyone loves this place and it's because you can find anything on here from food, clothes, pictures, decor, pets and DIY projects.  This might be my favorite site.  If you are not on it then get on it.  You do need an invite to enter so just shoot me an email and I would be happy to invite you.  Here is my pinterest info so you can follow me:
http://pinterest.com/prudencedesign/
You can even "PIN" things that you see and love from other websites and introduce them to others in the Pinterst world.  LOVE IT!  And don't be afraid to every pin things you see on my site hehe =)

Of course I have endless hours of fun reading through my daily blogs.  But that list is for another day.  I think I gave you enough info for today.  So who thinks they are actually going to get any work done  now????

Feel free to email me at txyankeeprincess@gmail.com!  Love your thoughts, questions and comments!!!!!!

Plaid and Cheetah

I was at the thrift store last weekend (Who would have guessed that?!?!?!) and I found this long red plaid skirt for 1.99.  I immediately had a vision of wearing it with a cheetah blouse and a big belt.  I am the type of person that once I get a new article of clothing or a pair of shoes, I end of wearing it the next day due to my excitement. Of course, taking a picture of the outfit by myself is not always the easiest or most successful but here it is:

I was so inspired by the outfit that I thought I would see if I could find any pictures of houses decor that did plaid and animal print together.  I think the color combo of red and cheetah would be cute around Christmas time.  Here are some inspirational photos:

Craigslist Roundup - Las Vegas Style

Welcome to this week's edition of Craiglist Roundup!  Today we are going to Las Vegas - Remember what happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas - too cheesy for ya?!?!?

Today on Craigslist Round up we found these items:

French Style Buffet for $75 - this could be adorable if you painted it a turquoise "Tiffany blue" color.

image 0

image 2

Asian Bamboo bookshelf - very unique piece.  You would need an eclectic feel to pull this off.  It is $300 which is more than most of my great finds on craigslist but it was so different I had to post it.  I would go in and offer 250 or 200.  Why not, right?

image 0

Bench for $65 - would definitely want to recover but that doesn't cost much.  I would offer $50 and have fun with this DIY project.

image 0

This desk for $65 doesn't look like much but what if you used some Chalk Paint in a green tone and then painted the handles silver.

image 0

If you did then maybe... just maybe it would look like this when done...

Two chairs for $60 - these chairs are pretty fab!!! Check them out...

image 0

Pretty much in love with this buffet table for $400.  Kind of steep for me (especially since I paid $50 for a similar piece for Las Vegas really believes in their stuff).

These two pieces have a lot of potential for $60.  These both could be easily sanded and painted into two beautiful pieces.  I love a good charcoal gray on the taller piece with new hardware.

Hope you enjoyed this week's edition of Craigslist Roundup!  Sorry that there hasn't been many postings this week.  We are just days away from the launch of the church we attend - Shoreline Dallas.  It has been a very busy week!!!  I am hoping that next week I will be back to my usual blogging ... I have several projects coming up that I am looking forward to showing you!!!

Thanks for hanging in there as readers!  Promise to be better next week.

My 10 last Repins...

Here are my 10 last repins from this week:

My honey is going shopping this week with a good friend of ours to find a new outfit for this Sunday.  This Sunday our Church is having their official Launch service.  It will be one of those days that we look back on forever.  I repinned some inspiration photos for his outfit.

I don't know if this is truly a "Launch service" outfit but I do love this look for him.

Really love this look as well:

Most people wouldn't think of mixing Pink and Red but this picture is a great example of how they can compliment each other and look amazing:

The pink and the white lacquer in this dining room makes my jaw drop - stunning!  LOVE everything about it.

How amazing are the two tone paint colors in this room.  I also love the fireplace painted white - it makes the paint colors pop even more:

Everything in this room looks so rich and deep.  That wall color that is extended on to the bookshelves is amazing.  It brings such depth to the room.

This color and pattern combo = fun!  It would look cute in a boys bedroom, cottage sit room or even a bathroom.

As most of you know from previous blogs, I love a good Wall Art Gallery.  A fellow blogger put this one together and I pinned it.  Love what she did:

On a different note:
Hope everyone had a great weekend!  I had a wonderful time spending time with my 88 yr old grandpa and my cousin as they were visiting from Upstate NY.  Here is a picture of 4 generations of men in our family:

That's it for today - have a great Monday!

Thoughts and inspiration for Master Bedroom

I have always loved my master bedroom - I had great vaulted ceilings, built-ins, large layout and my wall color was perfect.  Now that we are in a rental house - I am not painting the walls and it is much smaller than our previous bedroom.  We have also had the same bedding for almost 3 years and it has seen better days - 5 dogs will do that over time.

So I have decided that the Master needs a face lift to live up to my new Dallas decor standards! =)

Here are some photos that I feel inspired by - they are mostly white/grey with major pops of color.  I am so drawn to the same type of room.  Here you go:

I love how my eyes are drawn from one thing to the next - mix of colors and patterns on a neutral pallet.

Everything about this room makes me smile - the colors are so happy.  You couldn't help but wake up and be in a good mood in this bedroom.

Craigslist Roundup - Charlotte, NC - sorry I'm a day late

I am a day late posting my usual Wednesday series on "Craigslist Roundup".  Hopefully, it will be worth the wait as we travel to Charlotte, NC.  Charlotte is where my hubby went to college at Wingate University.  He LOVES it there and would probably move back in a heart beat if he didn't fall head over heels for Dallas.

So let's see what great deals we found today:

Vintage Footstool $25 - this piece is too cute.  Put it in your family room next to a fireplace or in front of a wingback chair.  I love the fabric but you could recover it if it didn't appeal to you.

image 2

Dresser $75 - I have a thing for Danish style dressers and this one is such a great size.  You could use this as a TV stand or a buffet in your dining room.  I saw one blogger paint just the front of the drawers white and it really made the piece "pop".

image 0

Scalloped Arm Chair for $75 - this would look adorable recovered in a Dwell Fabric.  You can't go wrong with anything from Dwell.

image 0

I guess Charlotte is known for their footstools because here is another one for $25.  This one I do NOT love the fabric and would definitely change that up and probably paint legs white.

image 1image 0

Hello adorable breakfast nook set for $65!! You can repaint and recover these chairs for this price but is also charming the way it is!!

image 0image 1

Baby Crib for $25 - great crib if you are doing a nursery OR I saw someone make this into a cute sofa day bed.  Just get a crib mattress and cover it in your favorite fabric then layer it with some great pillows you find on Etsy.com

image 0

Butcher block/rolling cart for $65 - this isn't something that would usually catch my eye but saw something recently redone one a blog while jumping from one blog to the next.  They had a very similar cart that they painted all white and stained the top a dark wood.  Then put stainless hardware and stainless towel hodler on end - looked AMAZING! Which makes me see the potential in this piece.

Alright - there you have it for this weeks (1 day delayed) "Craigslist Roundup".  Hope you had fun joining me in Charlotte today - we found some great deals and hopefully one of the readers will snatch some of this stuff up!  If you have a suggestion for where we should travel next week, leave it in my comments or email me at txyankeeprincess@gmail.com

Have a GREAT day!
