My friends Christmas Decor

My friend Jessica decorates on point for every occasion whether it be Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas - I always admire her house and decor.

This is her first Christmas in their new house and she was kind enough to take a couple snaps and send my way.  I thought I would share them with you to wrap up our Christmas blogs.

Hope you enjoy them!

Jessica has much higher ceilings in her new home - she makes adjustment to her tree by placing on a platform and adds feathers to top to give it height.  Isn't it so majestic looking?!??!  And you know they always look better in person.  If this was my tree, I would be staring at it all the time! I also love how she took old ice skates and placed at bottom of tree stand to add some decor.  Now if you are ever out thrifting and see some ice skates -you will want to snatch those babies up!

Here she uses space on her piano to decorate with her colorful vintage ornament collection.  Jessica has been collecting decor and great vintage items since she was a teenager.  I never met someone who had enough decor to decorate 2 houses before she ever had a house!  She has great taste and I always love how she pulls old and new together

There are just a couple snaps of her gorgeous decor!  Maybe next year she will take us on a tour - wouldn't that be fun!?!?

Tonight hubby is taking me out to eat at a nice restaurant to celebrate our 3 year anniversary.  The fun thing about living in a new city is trying new places to eat.  Plus I love getting dressed up - so any excuse to put on a dress makes me happy! =)

Craigslist Roundup - Orlando

This weeks edition of Craigslist Roundup brings us to Orlando, FL - my old stomping grounds.  My family lived in the Orlando area for about 8 years before we moved to Texas - loved the sun, beach and of course Disney.
So here is today's great finds:

Mable end table for $20 - this table has great shape and legs to it

Wood Desk for $45 - this desk has a ton of potential.  You can paint it pink and put in a little girls room.  I also like the idea of wrapping the drawer fronts in fabric - maybe black and white houndstooth and of course change out the hardware.

Lucite Chair for $75.  I love Lucite anything - so this chair stuck out to me.  I bet you could offer them $60 for it.  It would look cute with a desk or vanity.

Twin headboard and footboard for $65 - this is so beautiful.  It looks like it is a sleigh bed.  You could paint it and write in cursive "LOVE" on the footboard and put in a guest room or your childs bedroom.

Antique Hutch for $75 - love the doors on this piece.  You could use this for a TV stand or in a dining room.

And for my FAV piece in Orlando - Vintage Rattan Love seat for $100 (I would try to talk to them down to $75!)  Just picture how amazing this piece would look if you recovered the fabric in chevron!!! My heart just skipped a beat! =)

'And on a side note - today is my 3 year anniversary!!! Wow - that has just flown by.  Thank you honey for making me the happiest woman alive - I love you!

Christmas 2011

Although my Christmas isn't completely over yet, I thought I would still share with you some of my favorite gifts that my hubby gave to me.  He always does so good when it comes to gifts! We kind of have a competition to see who can give the best gift - so we are always trying to out do each other.  It's a lot of fun and it makes us think outside the box because the best gift is not always the most expensive but it will show how much you know the other person.

This is what my Christmas morning looked like:

Doggies got up and we put their Christmas outfits on.  Yes - I am that kind of person =)

We start off with some Christmas breakfast because I always wake up starving and have to eat in preparation for all the unwrapping hehe

All the while, I am tototally missing that my husband has this set up in the family room:

Isn't she pretty???!!! He got me a mountain bike and it's a pretty red one.  We live just blocks away from a great area to ride.  I am so excited!  Here's a close up:

Then we start to tackle the rest of the presents under the tree...

Awe - I love that tree! Smile =)

Then hubby opened up one of his surprise gifts - its a Nook Color!

Can you tell he was shocked and happy?!? Love this pic!

Then I opened up one of my other favorite gifts - yay for leather boots!!! Way to go hubby!

Note: This is the first and only picture you will ever see of me with out make up.  This picture will self destruct in 30 seconds...

Here are my first pair of Toms.  Aren't they adorable?  And they are sparkly!

I have a thing for Betsey Johnson purses.  I had several of them prior to our storage unit getting broken into - hope someone is enjoying my great collection of Betesy's and vintage purses out there.
Sniff Sniff
Well, Hubby has been amazing at restoring my old collection.  Here is one of the Betsey's I got this Christmas.  My in-laws even bought me one!! I was so happy!

All that unwrapping wore us out and it was time for a nap!

Oh you thought us!  Nope - the puppies all curled up and took a nap together.  How cute!

Well, that about sums up my Christmas in pictures. We also went over to my in - laws where she cooked a great meal and we visited with my husbands brother and family who are visiting from PA.  We still have one more day of celebrating left on January 7th!  We will be exchaning gifts with my family who were in MN and Israel - that's why it is a little delayed.

Thanks for checking out the blog today!  Hope everyone had a Very Merry Christmas!!!  I enjoyed my time with family and friends this weekend.  We feel so blessed and enriched by the people we do with life with!

Tomorrow, I should be back on track with the blog.  I will have this week's Craigslist Round Up - whom where will we visit tomorrow?????

Well today is going to be a very busy day!!!

I am going to go head out to ride the horse this cold Texas morning - well, cold for me because I am such a whimp!

Then I need to hit the grocery store which will be a mad house, finish last minute Christmas shopping, wrap presents and fit a work out in somewhere in between.  At least, I get to start my morning by connecting with my wonderful lovelies - you!

Hope you each have a wonderful day and get all of your last minute shopping done!!

I will leave you with some Christmas photos that make me giddy and excited for the next couple days:

DIY - covered painting with fabric

Hope all you "lovelies" had a wonderful weekend. I know mine was filled with shopping, church, working out and having a family get together at our house for both my parents birthdays.  It was the first time I have EVER hosted my family.  Now that we live in Dallas I actually get to play hostess with the mostess! So much fun =)

In between all that craziness and wrapping presents, I decided to do a little DIY project. I had bought some fabric on Amazon.com and wanted to cover canvas with it.  Well, I didn't have time to go buy canvas so I decided to hunt in my garage for something that might work and Lo and Behold I had two paintings that were same height and size that were just laying around.

So instead of spending money on blank canvas or wasting old pictures that I no longer use - I put them to a new use!

Here are step by step pictures and instructions on the project:

Supplies = Staple gun, scissors, fabric, hammer and nails

Get your supplies out and make sure you have everything you need (not much needed here!)

Lay out your fabric (iron if you need to - I don't even own an iron! lol)
Line up fabric on canvas.

Flip over fabric and fold over edge to start stapling down.

I didn't trim any of the fabric - this way if I didn't like it then I could take staples out and start over.

Start your stapling - make it nice and tight!

Fold other side and staple again - make tight!

Now you have to fold your edges like you are wrapping a present - then fold it over canvas and staple again.

I am usually a terrible "wrapper" but I have to admit - this looks good!

Look at that nice edge folded! Way to go!

All edges are folded and stapled down. Done!

Voila! Completed - now to hang it =)

Please ignore the bed - the doggies unmake it whenever we make it.  Well it is sort of still made but not as pretty as I want it.  I need new side tables and I want to put the frame higher but Hubby hates idea of hanging frame on wall.  I think I might change one of the mirros into a sunburst mirror - add some flare.  It needs something - not sure what??? Still working on this space.
BTW - that's Dora laying on my pillow. So cute and cuddly!

There you have it - so easy!  And cheap.

Cost = $12 for fabric which included shipping

Love using what you have on hand!
